Check out these 8 must see sessions on Mendix World

Mendix World goes corona-style, of course. But thankfully, that doesn’t mean less quality! The good news is that you don’t have to skip any sessions, because now you won’t have to choose between simultaneous sessions. You can watch every session on-demand afterwards, including the one with our Pater Familias Marc Gelissen. But to prevent you from browsing through more than 80 sessions for days, we kindly offer our top-8 of the must-see sessions – plus some extra.

We believe that these keynotes and deep-insight sessions about manufacturing and finance will offer you inspiration and lots of information about the state and future of low-code. Of course we’ve also added the sessions of our clients AZL and IHC! After registering at the site of Mendix World, you can visit our list. Here we go…Enjoy!

It’s time to assemble! Start your Mendix World journey by hearing from Mendix Co-founder and CEO, Derek Roos, on his vision for the business and the state of the low-code industry. Roos will provide insight into the digitalization journey of Mendix customers over the last year, unveil critical business partnerships, and shed early insight on the product announcements to come.

Makers around the world are developing the future of software with low-code. CTO Johan den Haan, joined by special guests from the Mendix R&D team, will take a look back at the evolution of the Mendix product vision, share what makers in our community have been achieving since the release of Mendix 9, and unveil the latest product announcements which will continue to deliver an all-in-one development experience for everyday users of the platform.

Simon Sinek believes in a bright future and our ability to build it together. Described as “a visionary thinker with a rare intellect,” Simon teaches leaders and organizations how to inspire people. Part of that inspiration comes from big-picture thinking and viewing your role in business as ever-evolving, or as Simon calls it: The Infinite Game. How can we win a game that has no end? The simple answer is; we can’t. However, that’s exactly what so many companies are trying to do. The problem is, there is no such thing as “winning business.” In a game with no finish line and no agreed upon rules or metrics it is impossible to “be number one,” “be the best” or “beat our competition.” In this Infinite Game, there is only ahead and behind. In his moderated discussion with Mendix CTO, Johan den Haan, Simon explores how understanding the rules of the Infinite Game and changing your perspective is essential for anyone who wants to stay ahead and outlast any competitor, forever.

This year at Mendix World, attendees from financial services can hear from customers, analysts, and experts on the range of digitalization possibilities across internal and external processes with Mendix. Solutions Directors, Michael Rennie and David Kuhn, will offer their recommendations for financial services leaders to see what’s possible with low-code in their industry this September.

Customers expect real-time transparency into their finances across banking, investing, and retirement services. Pension provider AZL works with thousands of employers and 1.5 million customers, all of whom required a more dynamic understanding of their contributions beyond a single annual report. Along with partner Bizzomate, AZL created a pension portal which allows customers to receive updates on legislation impacting their pension, conduct scenario analysis, and see how much is available to them. Experts at Bizzomate and AZL IT Director, Edward Heijkers, will share best practices around legacy modernization projects with low-code, how to support the customer journey, and parameters to support development with speed.

Extremely manual processes conducted over emails, PDFs, and Excel make it challenging to conduct long-term analyses, identify trends, or prove value. For Royal IHC, this need prompted their team of business experts and developers to digitalize condition monitoring services with a low-code application. See how Royal IHC Product Owner Laura Zwaan and her team created a Mendix portal with task management, KPI dashboards, and self-service analytics capabilities that resulted in improved internal efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Increased agility, productivity, and innovation have been critical capabilities for manufacturers – especially in the past year. Organizations facing the challenges of digitalization have to change the way they build and leverage their ecosystem of solutions if they want to stay successful and be competitive. The Mendix low-code platform, as part of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, can help manufacturers harness their valuable data, connect with existing systems, and deliver user-friendly digital UI’s to support enterprises across the supply chain. Raffaello Lepratti, VP of Industrial Manufacturing Cloud at Mendix, will offer a guide for manufacturing leaders to see what’s possible with low-code.

Ok, actually this is a top-10-list 😉
We’d like to point out three tech sessions, for you, about Mendix Data Hub, Native Mobile en Microservices Architecture.

Too many business processes run in a sub-optimal way, often due to a mismatch between the actual process and how it is supported with IT solutions. IT is too busy trying to fix the never-ending list of solutions built in Excel or .net that are breaking, and without the time or right tools, they can’t get around to delivering what the business needs. This forces business users to manage processes over email, Excel, paper, legacy systems – thus starting the cycle all over again. Mendix can reduce the complexity in creating critical workflow solutions, making it easier and faster to get the right app in place – while still keeping IT in control. In this session, Mendix experts will show you how to create a workflow in Mendix, integrate data through Data Hub, and how – as a leader – you can retain oversight into the entire process.

There are several misconceptions are building native mobile apps: “Its too difficult for me” or “it’s low-code, so it is always easy”. In this session Product Manager Danny Roest will dive into these misconceptions, and share why it’s possible with the right team for everyone to build a native mobile app by using his personal experience as well as customer cases.

Shifting from a monolithic application to a modern microservices architecture will result in lower risk of operational failure and better long-term flexibility. Mendix Enterprise Architect, Andreas Lennevi, will share the ideal organizational approach and infrastructure for safely splitting a monolith when scaling a low-code program. You’ll learn how low-code is conducive to a DevOps way of working, the opportunities to display value more quickly, and how to minimize future costs by migrating to the cloud.
